Nepali Boy: Roughs to Inks

I haven't been sketching for its own sake the last couple weeks, obsessed instead with finishing the 15-page first chapter of my Méto the Abominable Snowboy comic. It's all drawn in Manga Studio. I skip the pencil step, drawing/inking from roughs.

I love this process, as I can undo a stroke quickly and try again, leading to loose and expressive line work. Napoleon

This was drawn to finish off a trio of hairstyles which I'll post on Facebook.
I tried another pose of Jon Heder as Napoleon but that one was a dismal failure.

This one turned out okay although, I think it'll go better once I get a clear shot but...when will that actually happen, probably never. Unless I get paid to draw him, I may not do this again of course (that is the way things go)

20 years ago today...

Carey Mulligan

 I grown quite enamored with Carey Mulligan, a wonderful actress of depth and gravity, belying her pixie-like features. If you haven't yet, check her out in An Education, Drive, and the Dr. Who episode, Blink. She good.

Allergies

Recently my nephew blew up like a puffer fish because he was allergic to a certain

medicine that his mama gave him! He is only 5 years old, so last night i drew this fish for him to cheer him up... his response.. "haha aunt meeda, that looks just like me right now."

For a painting for church

This is just one idea for a painting for our church. The general idea is we wander around on our own and we need  to look to the Lord for guidance. More on this later I really want to go outdies and enjoy the sun so I'll talk to you all later. I'm supposed to paint this live next Friday so we can film it and edit it, I"m glad as that means I"ll have a big more time to complete this. Hopefully I can do this in a short amount of time.

Ridin' a Hitch...

Haven't watched any of his flicks the last week (I've seen so many of them so many times...) but here's another series of sketches of that great subject...

 

 ...including a couple more stabs from the same straight-on reference photo, unable yet to capture that fearful asymmetry I see in it. The other two aren't bad... All drawn directly with brush.

Many years ago, I drew a Hitchcock poster (1984) in another style altogether, as well as merging Hitch with Dr. Manhattan from the Watchmen to pose as the narrator for a short comic story (1989).
