Thank you both! HAHAH Aww, you're kind to say, Amanda, really. I do think what Tim had to say would be great though. He was an incredible director and never got ONE academy nod for it.
Aside from being a cinematic genius, Hitch was also a marketing machine! He had his films, his TV show, and his magazine (still in publication). No one besides Walt Disney had that kind of personal brand recognition. Speilberg & Lucas learned more from him than filmmaking!
So true, Tim. Ever see that Birds trailer? They don't make 'em like that anymore. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZjaVdJt59U
And that bit he pulled with Psycho - no one allowed in after it starts or some such? Brilliant! More here: http://www.paleycenter.org/hitchcock-master-branding/
Hey Paul, Yeah I saw that trailer before. Brilliant. Did you see the trailer he did for Psycho? He walked around the set and hinted at the horror to come. I love the way he found to shoot a film very low budget and used that as a marketing gimmick - Like "Lifeboat" . Shot entirely on a single set, you gotta see this! Or "Rope" - shot in a single take (essentially) - See it!!
are you kidding me? you are a genius with a pencil!. i love love this.. oh and yes...it can read.. ” you can't handle jodys awesomeness.”
ReplyDeleteIncredible, Jody!
ReplyDeleteYou should send this to Alfred Hitchcock Magazine, along with some of your color work. I bet you could get a cover gig!
Oh, and the slate should just say "You're welcome." for all the influence he has had on cinema.
