Chandra!
When I was a kid, I didn't associate George Miller movies with cute talking animals. I originally meant this as something making fun of the movies, but now my daughter thinks I'm awesome because I have drawn Mumble and Babe...
Busy Week!
Even with a lot of deadlines this week, I found a little time to draw some for myself...
To be honest, the elephant drawings were done on Thursday, so they aren't truly a 'Saturday Sketch'. But I hope you like them anyway.

Technically a sketch, only painted :)
I was busy painting this weekend and produced this....I'm doing another one for our church for nother campus. Its for Advent. The second one will be similar to this one only larger and at a different aspect ratio. Instead of 1 to 3, it's 1 to 2.....but it's not as upsetting a change as I thought it would be.

Pikathulu
It's Pikathulu! Unfortunately, all who touch Pikathulu will be doomed to have pastel dust on them since it has snowed and I can't take it outside to apply fixative.

Uncle Fisheye
Drew more of the Fisheye Guy, this time with no reference, save my inital drawing.

Aloha, Brudda!
Did this late last night, so I suppose it can count for a Saturday Sketch.
It's a portrait of champion surfer and Olympic swimmer, Duke Kahanamoku. Painted in instant coffee. Would've been more appropriate if I had used Kona coffee, I suppose, but I had to use what was lying around.

Gorilla Sheriff
I like drawing Gorillas. I like drawing cowboys. There you go.
By the way, I used coffee along with the watercolor spot color. Had some free samples of instant coffee and I don't drink the stuff. Hopefully, this isn't wasting it.

Manda Macfarlane- Piggies
Hi...had a lot of time this sat..i was telling my daughter about the three little pigs so I decided to draw them...this is just the first one that built his house of straw.
HODGE: SKETCH ON LINEN
All right. I did nothing this weekend. So here's an old jpg I found rummaging through my digital archives today. I painted over this and never showed the drawing.
Sat. Randomness
Hi Everyone! Hope you all have had a nice holiday this week. Can't believe how time has flown and also can't believe X-mas is around the corner as well. Well I know the last time I posted some sketches I said I would try to put up the full pages of my sketches...good or bad. So thought it would be fun to post some of what I did today.. Please excuse the random notes on some of the sketches...they make no sense. Ha! Well hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend.

Netflix envelope
I"m in between hard drives...the previous one has the scan of this on the desktop. If you can't tell it's from Big Bang theory, which I'm currently working through, DVD wise.
I paused the DVD in order to draw from it, which creates a disjointed grouping.

From Chandra!
One day I will draw something so scary and horrifying HR Giger will look at it and say, "Oh, that's too much for me." Until then, I'll give you this T-Rex that I researched dinosaur anatomy for this weekend and who somehow ended up looking really quite friendly.
Teen Daughter in Pastel
My daughter, Laura agreed to pose for me today, so I could try my hand at pastels again for the first time in years. I mark it as a failure: I used pastels too large on paper too small; her nose is too large here, face not wide enough. The drawing doesn't do her justice, either - she's prettier than this.
On the plus side, I wouldn't have done this drawing without you fine folks and this blog. Thanks for the motivation. Not horrible for a half hour. I see more coming in the near future....

Happy Thanksgiving!
Cranked this out this morning, racing to get it done before the mailman comes. And, yes, popcorn is historically a Thanksgiving food.
I did this one earlier this week I did this one. Just wanted to include it so I have a balance of non-Netflix images. It's done on paper made from elephant dung. I sent this as a thank-you to a friend who keeps me flush in Starbucks gift cards. She knows I like Chai Tea! I send her art, she sends me gift cards. It's a good barter system we have going on.

The paper is verrrrry porous, and doesn't take paint very well. It's like working on a thick paper towel. I still like it, though. Plus, the proceeds from buying it go to elephant conservation.

What the Lump? More Adventure Time!
Like Chandra, I've a theme going, too, tho I skipped a week. More of Finn & Jake of Adventure Time, joined in one sketch by LSP - Lumpy Space Princess. I gave her a li'l crown instead of her signature forehead star.
And I cheated more than the rest of you as I did these last weekend...

UFC DVD Netflix thingamabobber
Okay, so,
I'm in the middle of a huge migraine right now and can't really think straight or follow a thought...my typing is really bad as I keep having to correct everything I write. Um...so I'm kind of cheating. I drew this earlier in the week but this week, I'm doing lots of work so I'm not really at the house all that much. This was inspired from the Best of 2010 UFC :)

Chandra's MIX sketches!!!
I did this sketches to pass the time during a slow spell at MIX (Minneapolis Indie Expo) this weekend. To my surprise they sold before I finished them, so I had some friendly artist neighbors with smartphones take some photos of them for me.

Sunny Stegosaurus
One of many sketches done this weekend at the MIX (Minneapolis Indie Xpo), this one for Chandra's daughter.
Evil cat waits for the day......
...someday, that window will open and he can pounce!
Across the way, there's a cat who sometimes sits in the window only to glare at me. I love it actually. I can him Evilcat, emphasis on "EVIL" like it's a full title. I haven't seen him in awhile but his visage is forever imbedded in my memory.
Yet Another Pachyderm
I started out drawing a few other things, but didn't like the direction they were heading. Ended up here with another elephant.

Hobbits
Always like to put my own spin on LOTR characters. I did not do too good of a job of putting the correct face to the name with Merry and Pippen. Merry is the character at the top and Pippen at the bottom. DOH! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
