Myrna

Brush sketches of one of my fave classic movie actresses. Something of a likeness captured occasionally, here and there...

    1. I vote for Jean Arthur, too! (I love her voice).

    2. Thanks, Tim!
Jean - she's great in those Capra flicks, and I especially love her in Hawks's "Only Angels Have Wings."

  2. Especially love the first one, with that cute li'l nose in profile.

  3. Wonderful, lovely ink work Paul. I used to watch nothing but black and white movies and you definitely captured the look and feel of the actresses (as ink can be sometimes, brutality for women) Now I want to revisist watching them.

    1. Thanks, Jody. You won't see the less successful sketches which are indeed brutal. One swipe of the brush for a shadow on a cheek and it ruined - looks like a gash - ouch!
That's the challenge with these quick sketches of women, what with no under-drawing: balancing working fast and expressively while being deliberate to capture some sort of likeness/unique quality - that spark that made these actresses shine on-screen.
